Field Testing Anti-Speeding Messages

چکیده
On a 60mph section of road that included 40kph school zone, speed detection devices were installed prior to, immediately after, and further away from variable message signage (VMS) displaying anti-speeding messages. Speed data (>250,000 vehicle movements) collected continuously to VMS installation (week1), during display (week2), post-display (week3). reductions associated with deployment week1 week2 partially sustained at week3.

Predicting the Acceptance and Rejection of Emotion-based Anti-Speeding Messages: The role of attitudinal beliefs and personal involvement
Limited evidence is available relating to the effectiveness of positive emotional appeals in road safety. Moreover, relative to measures of message acceptance, little is known about message rejection as an outcome measure of message effectiveness. The effectiveness of a range of negative and positive emotional appeals addressing speeding were examined with drivers (N = 551). Hierarchical regres...
متن کاملSpeeding up Permutation Testing in Neuroimaging
Multiple hypothesis testing is a significant problem in nearly all neuroimaging studies. In order to correct for this phenomena, we require a reliable estimate of the Family-Wise Error Rate (FWER). The well known Bonferroni correction method, while simple to implement, is quite conservative, and can substantially under-power a study because it ignores dependencies between test statistics. Permu...

متن کاملA Field Experiment Testing the Utility of Regulatory Fit Messages for Promoting Physical Activity.
Guided by regulatory focus theory, we examined whether messages tailored to individuals' promotion- or prevention-goal orientation (regulatory focus) elicit positive thoughts and feelings about physical activity and increase participation in physical activity. Inactive participants (N = 206) were assigned randomly to receive either promotion-focused or prevention-focused messages encouraging ph...
متن کاملTesting Distributed Programs Containing Racing Messages
Finding errors in non-deterministic programs is complicated by the fact that a bug may be revealed only by a particular sequence of program activities. An erroneous program may run correctly hundreds or thousands of times, each time avoiding the failure-causing sequence. This problem is exacerbated in distributed systems since race conditions on messages may not be under the direct control of t...
